Aust CH Morndew Diamonds Are Forever (AI) - ‘Diamond’

Diamond is sired by the outstanding SUP CH Bradorla Air Force One (Henry), a dog that left an indelible impression when he debuted at the 2014 Melbourne Royal. That day, Henry was awarded Best of Breed, Puppy in Group, and was shortlisted for the Group from the Puppy Class. His animated presence and commanding showmanship captivated everyone. Henry was a striking black Labrador with a masculine head, true double coat, and the hallmark otter tail—epitomizing the breed standard.

Diamond’s dam, Morndew Grace and Favour, was one of Morndew’s most influential producers, forming the foundation for many of the kennel’s decorated dogs. Grace herself was a pale yellow, well-boned girl of ideal type with a classic Labrador head, excellent double coat, and signature otter tail. She brought a pedigree rooted in Sandylands lines, contributing to Diamond’s exceptional lineage.

Diamond exemplified the best traits of her heritage. She had a refined, feminine head with a soft, kind expression, complemented by well-shaped, expressive eyes of good color. Her ear set and size were correct, and she possessed a graceful reach of neck that flowed smoothly into well-laid shoulders. Her chest was well-barrelled with ample depth of brisket, lending her balance and substance.

Structurally, Diamond stood on strong, well-boned forelegs with slightly sloping pasterns, arched toes, and tight, well-formed feet. She had a strong, level topline, with a tail set perfectly aligned with it, and muscled hindquarters that were powerful yet feminine. While Diamond was at the smaller end of the size spectrum, her compact frame was well-proportioned, with a short, strong loin that enhanced her balanced appearance.

Her hindquarters were a standout feature, with clearly defined first and second thighs, good turn of stifle, and overall power that contributed to her excellent movement. Her temperament was equally praiseworthy—gentle, biddable, and adaptable, she was a joy both in the ring and as a companion.

Show Highlights: Diamond's achievements include being awarded Puppy in Show at the 2018 Labrador National in Sydney, judged by Mr. Arwyn Ellis (Dolwen Labradors, Wales). The judge’s critique highlighted her typey, kind head with a melting expression, excellent coat and condition, strong quarters with good second thigh, and fluid movement.

At the 2018 Labrador Club of Victoria Specialty, Ms. Caron Ellis (Bradorla Labradors, Tasmania) described her as:
"Black of excellent type. Pleasing head showing good proportions and kind, correct eye shape. Forequarters well-laid with good prosternum, well-sprung ribs, and hindquarters deep through the second thigh. Excellent dense coat of correct length and texture, with a well-coated otter tail. Moved well."

Now retired, Diamond enjoys her life as a support dog, embodying the breed’s hallmark versatility and temperament.
